The Merida Ninety Six RC XT Mountain Bike is back better than ever in 2021, ready to meet the needs of the modern XC racer who wants to ride at their best. Merida have made big changes to this model this year with a completely new CF4 III Carbon Frame which is sleeker than previous model, built for the ultimate combination of durability and speed. The updated geometry is designed with modern riding preferences in mind, built with a slacker head angle and steeper seat angle to pair with a longer wheelbase and reach.
The FOX Performance 32 Float Fork with 100mm travel is matched with a Fox Performance Elite Float Rear Shock also with 100mm of travel. This is a more progressive suspension setup than previous models, featuring a cable lockout which is hidden from view through the top tube.
The RC XT model is equipped with a 1×12 speed Shimano XT Drivetrain for clean shifting and reliable performance when it counts. The 2 piston Shimano XT Hydraulic Disc Brakes will give you capable control when youre rolling on the Alloy Merida Expert CC Wheels with 29X2.25 Maxxis Rekon Race Tyres, capable of fitting tyres up to 2.3. It wouldnt be ready for serious speed without a dropper post and the Merida Expert TR Light Dropper Post ensures this bike comes with everything you need.
The Merida Ninety Six RC XT is a high-quality lightweight racing bike that packs a carbon frame 100mm of travel, two piston hydro disc brakes and fast rolling XC tyres for an efficient ride that is ready to tear it up.
To save weight and further improve the frame stiffness, we have removed the seat-/chainstay pivot point. Instead of a classic bearing, the material properties of the frame allow sufficient flex without having an impact on durability.
All control cables like gear, brake and dropper post cable enter the frame through a specifically shaped headset cap, cleaning up the cockpit area while also keeping them out of harm’s way. Only the internally routed cable for the rear shock lockout enters the frame directly into the top tube for extra smooth lockout action.
In line with todays more demanding and aggressive XC course as well as the rising interest in light yet capable short-travel bikes of the down country segment, we have slackened the head angle by 1.5 (trail version even 3), increased the reach, lowered the bottom bracket and standover height and steepened the seat angle by 1.5 – 2.
